a matter of attitude

When Moses sent out the spies to check out the promised land (Numbers 13), they came back with fruit of the land and said that the land was indeed good! But all the spies except for Joshua and Caleb grumbled saying that the people living there were too strong, they were of a great size and in comparison the spies felt like grasshoppers... they also stated that the land devoured those living in it. Later they spread a bad report and grumbled against the leaders. Only Joshua and Caleb had a positive report, stating that they could certainly take the Land with God's help.
The grumbling spies looked at their own limitations and forgot that it was God who was sending them into the land in the first place. Joshua and Caleb however had the attitude that if God was in it then there would be success.
Our attitude has a lot to do with bringing down the giants in our life, if we see only our own limitations we will be ruled by the giants forever however if we see that God is backing us as Joshua and Caleb did, we will see the giants in relation to the size of God and in turn the giants will look like grasshoppers!
The only way to see the promises of God become reality in our lives is to have faith that God can help us overcome, he can help us pull down the Jericho's we face... negative attitudes and faith cannot co-exist.
We need to learn to see God's take on a situation before we rely on our own thinking... Proverbs 3:5,6 says that we need to trust in the Lord with all of our heart and not lean on our own understanding, we need to acknowledge him in all of our ways (as Joshua and Caleb did) and he will make our paths straight.
May we have the same attitude that Joshua and Caleb had as we face the giants of 2009

Great post, one of my favourite sections of the word - their heart attitude and David's is what the church needs to get
