what armour are you wearing?

Ever wake up thinking what the day will hold for you? God can sometimes break into our daily routines and changing the way we see things forever... Check out Isaiah chapter 6, Isaiah is going about doing business as usual and suddenly he encounters God and he feels like he is being unravelled in the process. In that encounter with God his life is changed forever!
David gets asked by his father to do a menial task of delivering lunch to his brothers. But that led to an event that would be spoken of for generations to come.
The interesting thing about David facing Goliath is that he refused to do it in Saul's armour... (read about it in 1Sam 17:38,39). His reason for not wearing the armour of the king was simply that he was 'not used to them'.
So he goes out to face Goliath with a staff, 5 stones in a shepherd's bag and a sling!
You see the unseen armour that David wore was his history with God, God had delivered him out of difficult situations before so why would this be any different? In fact when taunted by Goliath, David informs him that he (David) has killed both the lion and the bear and the same God that gave him the strength to do that will give him the strength that bring down Goliath.

We can underestimate the significance of our history with God, when the accuser taunts you with fears of destruction, you can recall what God has brought you through before in your life, and the same God who delivered you from the brink of disaster before will do it again!
David went against Goliath with what he was used to, and he brought down the giant!

When you face giants in your life, don't look for methods to bring down the giant that you are not used to, don't waste time looking for some shiny armour before facing your giants! Trust God that he has equipped you with all that you need, besides God does not leave your side no matter what you are facing.
What does tomorrow hold for you? Are you expectant of God's intervention in your life? Don't let the bad in your past dictate your future but don't forget what God has done for you and as that old chorus goes; 'because He lives I can face tomorrow'.
